Steel Bridges and Structures

The joint workshop of Turkish IABMAS and IABSE will focus on challenges involved in the design and construction of special bridges, benefits of bridge management to the community, and the importance of earthquake engineering in bridge design.

In this workshop, bridge engineers will have the opportunity to meet with globally known speakers to discuss the new technological developments in bridge engineering.

Klaus H. Ostenfeld,

MSc civil/structural engineering DTU 1966, former Director Bridges and CEO of COWI A/S. Expert consultant since 2009. Directed and developed designs of major bridges incl. the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark, The Oresund Crossing between Denmark and Sweden,  Normandy bridge in France and the Femern crossing investigations between Denmark and Germany. World Bank appointed expert. Former vice-president of The Academy of Technical Sciences. Former president, now honorary member and fellow of IABSE, the International Association for Bridge- and Structural Engineering, and former chairman of the IABSE Foundation. Has been awarded the Oscar Faber Award, Institution of Structural Engineers, UK, the G.A. Hagemann Gold Medal, Danish Technical University 2004, the Grand Prix, Trophée Eugène Freyssinet 2014 and the Prix Caquot 2017 of AFGC in France.
